An icon of modernist design, the Brno Flat-Bar Armchair was originally conceived in 1930 by renowned architect and designer Ludwig Mies van der Rohe for the celebrated Villa Tugendhat in Brno, Czech Republic.
Today produced by Knoll, the design remains one of the most recognisable pieces of 20th-century furniture. Celebrated for its clean architectural lines and effortless elegance, the Brno chair features a distinctive cantilevered flat-steel frame which gives the seat a subtle floating appearance while providing a gentle, flexible comfort when seated.
The minimalist profile is paired with a fully upholstered seat and back, here finished in refined ivory leather, creating a timeless piece equally suited to dining spaces, offices, or contemporary living interiors.Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, the chair incorporates a polished steel frame with no visible connections between the structure and seat, highlighting Mies van der Rohe’s commitment to purity of form and modern simplicity.

This Brno is in superb, beautifully-maintained condition, having seen light, regular use in its previous home, and is entirely free from fault, flaw or damage. Its hugely handsome order reflects the TLC and considerate use afforded it in the past but, as you would think normal when considering its nature and colour, it does possess a small number of barely-visible and largely-inconsequential marks to both the leather and the chrome-framework as you might expect.
For the avoidance of doubt, please view the numerous images provided to confirm the superb condition and appearance of this gem. Clearly not in truly perfect condition, but a true classic of modern furniture design presented in as good-condition as you are likely to find.
Whilst it could not be considered pristine due to the reasons stated above, this piece is certain to meet the requirements of all but the most-particular and true-perfectionist of buyers and, for someone looking for a seat of peerless design and execution to position at the heart of their home, it is truly heaven sent! A good seller with access to exceptionally high quality furniture wiling to negotiate mutually beneficial arrangements on their stock. I must say I was disappointed on delivery, as I was left three weeks with no messages or notifications. However when delivery was scheduled it was attended by two individuals who delivered to a third floor without quibble. Furthermore, this is luxury furniture at a discount, so in the round, a positive experience, and I both recommend and would buy again .
